2017 was a turbulent, strange, unexpected year for me. The highlight was going home to Ireland for a month by myself. I’m still processing the journey and what it meant to me, and you can follow along as I write about it in installments. I’ve posted four already, and more will be on their way soon.
I’ve never been one to go in for New Year’s resolutions. Like the pressure to go out and have a tremendous time on New Year’s Eve, I think they create more trouble than they’re worth, setting people up to feel like failures before they’ve even turned one page on their shiny new calendars.
But I love this quote by the wonderful Neil Gaiman, and I sincerely wish it for myself and all of you.
Now go forth and write. Write freely, write simply, write from your heart. After a year of upheaval, breathlessness, new awakenings, and some sadness, I will endeavour to do the same.

To Neil Gaiman’s quote, Patricia, I will add the aphorism, ‘While it is the early bird who catches the worm, it is the second mouse to gets the cheese.’
